Kinetic Dialogue

Contact Improvisation

Every gesture is a word, every interaction a dialogue.

CI is nothing more than a way to communicate physically with another dancing body, without any premeditation.

By keeping our perception open, the information we receive from the environment organizes our sensitive body.

I don’t need to look, only to see, letting our instinct guide our actions effectively and accurately.

And to find calm in the breath, to flow with the current of time, filling ourselves with energy and patience.

To transform my desires into intentions, and the unpredictable into a constant discovery.

Everything that is unnecessary can be omitted in physical dialogue; fluidity and elegance respond only to what is effective and simple at the same time.

To tune in with the whole, to be part of and encounter nature, until one disappears within it.

CI Movement Dialogue

Training Programs, Intensive Workshops & Regular Classes

Contact Improvisation expresses its most fundamental essence through connection. Discovering the meaning of this connection and its multiple layers provides us with a useful and lasting integration into the environment. To move through physical and temporal space in connection, sharing the experience with another.

PerfoJam: Ramon Roig

PerfoJam

Interactive dance

The Perfo Jam is an interactive dance session where the audience is invited to dance (JAM). It is in this same space that those invited dance, as if in a jam. Small actions lasting no more than 3-4 minutes occur, appearing randomly in places marked by light, disappearing shortly afterward without a trace, and the audience-dancer resumes their own dance.

With this, we achieve a more casual and empathetic connection with the observers, without the need for applause. They remain in their memories as suggestions of depth and beauty.

This formula aims to blur the barrier between actor and observer.

Indian Dressage & Contact Improvisation

Experiential journeys of encounter with horses through movement, based on the methodology of Indian Dressage and the Contact Improvisation technique.
Dancing with a horse or letting its gaze guide our movement. Accompanying one another, learning from one another… Our desires, our way of managing time, are highlighted in the face of nature through the eyes of a horse.

Dirección y coordinación: Ramon Roig y Toni Arnal

Videos recorded by Ramon Roig

Capturing improvisation in images to organize the observer’s gaze…

During improvisation, in the midst of physical dialogue, the dancer’s attention remains permanently focused on the point of connection with the other dancer.

If we want, through observation, to capture or perceive what is happening in improvisation, we must bring our gaze into the scene and dance with it.

"It has given me tools, and this week in the jams I noticed it so much… such a change!!! Above all: clarity and roles. I dared to lift weights for the first time and I flowed a lot with the new resources; without looking for it, it just happened. Now I feel I can play much more! This motivates me a lot to keep learning. The parts about solos, gazes, and silences also inspired me. Ramón conveyed the knowledge clearly, always seeking practice and escaping overthinking. I recommend this to people with experience in contact who don’t yet know Ramón, as well as to beginners, since he creates this space for everyone."

"I loved the workshop, I found it super complete. For me, contact is a way to expand the possibilities of the body and become more aware of the connection with others. I had never taken classes with Ramón, and it was wonderful. I loved the dynamics proposed during the workshop: it was like traveling between awareness, lightness, poetry, grounding, and very nourishing reflections. I also felt a lot of care and attention towards the participants."

"It moved not only the physical body, but also very strongly the subtle body, the emotions, and sensitivity. At times it was like a constant vertigo, which nevertheless felt supported by the tools I was assimilating and putting into practice. This vertigo was actually something kind, nothing that clouded my clarity or pulled me away from my center; on the contrary, it threw me into a continuous emptiness from which I was learning new things… all the time I felt clarity, safety, and precision in the information. The music underlined the intention of each moment, and the imagination was sparked by the metaphors used to explain certain things."

"It stirred my confidence, my self-esteem, my ability to express myself through the body, my physical ability to do things I thought I couldn’t, my feeling with other bodies, my passion for dance and beauty, my reaffirmation that the body and dance are the path to health, to calm, to peace with myself, to connect with people and see their beauty. I am very grateful to have such a great master of contact, of the body, of dance, and of life itself. Someone who knows how to transmit, who takes care of you, who is passionate about what he does and shares that passion with you, with his respect, his vision, so that I can believe in myself and see it as possible."

"It has moved me to have a deeper listening to myself, to my movement through breathing, to listen to the different parts of my body and observe how my whole body reorganizes itself based on that movement. It has helped me to work on my fears and my ability to execute suspensions, to gradually overcome my resistance to being observed by others, to learn to take more initiative in physical dialogues, to learn to manage my shared spaces with others… In general, it has led me further along the path of a more perceptive and precise listening, both with myself and with others, to generate an honest dialogue."
